When a slab needs work
- Cracks that keep growing, or sections that have dropped or lifted.
- Trip edges where one section sits higher than the next.
- Concrete that slopes toward the house and sends water to the foundation.
- Tree roots pushing a slab up.
Fix the ground, then the concrete
Patching a slab that sank or heaved rarely lasts if the ground underneath is still moving. We find out why it moved, usually water, roots or poorly compacted soil, fix that, and then cut out and repour the damaged sections. When we repour, we slope the concrete away from the house.
Questions
Can you repair just part of a slab?
Often, yes. We cut out the damaged sections and repour them, rather than replacing the whole slab.
Do you handle the sidewalk in front of the house too?
Yes. Public works is on our license, so we can repair the city sidewalk and driveway approach as well.
